Digital Crafts

The Challenge

Designing a collection of urban furniture manufactured using 3D printing in concrete. The collection, called Digital Craftsmanship, highlights the evolution of artisanal work with the incorporation of new technologies, allowing a pure expression of creativity and ideas. Thanks to 3D printing, it is possible to materialize designs that previously seemed impossible, giving rise to a project where the human being provides the imagination and the machine executes with precision. Project carried out for Conconcreto.

Proposed Objectives

Identify and define the capabilities of the 3D printer together with the Concrete technical team.

Create a solid design concept that serves as a framework for the development of each piece of furniture in the collection.

Design 3D models and develop scale prototypes using conventional 3D printing technology.

Essential roles in the project

Strategic alignment with the client. We help the client to give direction to their business.

Primary research and analysis of trends in design and market references.

Design process co-created with the client using 3D models in parametric software.

Validation process and user tests using different high-resolution prototypes.

The Final Result

Godet is a lamp manufactured by Gantri in San Francisco, California. The entire body was produced using 3D printing techniques and manual labor by local artisans to improve the surface finish. This product, like many other Gantri designs, is sold through its web portal and distributed to its customers by mail.
